NPD Design Engineer – Food, Pharma & Biotech Machinery Pina Engineering is seeking a highly motivated and innovative New Product Development (NPD) Design Engineer to join our team, focused on creating next-generation machinery for the food, pharmaceutical, and biotech industries. This role is central to developing hygienic, efficient, and reliable equipment that meets stringent industry standards and drives our mission of enabling smart, sustainable manufacturing. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and development of new process equipment for food, pharma, and biotech applications. Conceptualize and design equipment such as: Mixing, Blending, and Homogenizing Systems Reactors, Fermenters, and Bioreactors Clean-in-Place (CIP) & Sterilize-in-Place (SIP) Systems Heat Exchangers, Process Vessels, and Utility Skids Specialized machinery for hygienic food and pharma processing Develop 3D models, manufacturing drawings, P&IDs, and BOMs with accuracy and detail. Ensure designs comply with GMP, FDA, ASME BPE, and hygienic design guidelines . Collaborate with cross-functional teams (automation, electrical, fabrication, and quality) for integrated product development. Drive prototype building, testing, validation, and scale-up trials . Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting at client sites. Continuously research new materials, technologies, and design practices to enhance product performance and cost-effectiveness. Your Profile / Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Production / Biotech / Process Engineering . 3+ years of experience in design and development of process equipment , preferably in food, pharma, or biotech machinery. Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD). Strong knowledge of hygienic design, material selection (SS 316L, Duplex, Titanium), welding standards, and surface finish requirements . Familiarity with ASME BPE, GMP, FDA, and clean design regulations . Hands-on experience with NPD lifecycle – concept, design, prototyping, testing, and commercialization . Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project execution skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment .
