Position Title: Production Head - NPK Plant Location: Minjingu, Tanzania Reporting To: Plant Head / Head of Operations Status : Single Position Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Production Head to lead and manage operations across three NPK fertilizer production units with a total capacity of 150,000 tons per annum . The incumbent will be responsible for achieving production targets, optimizing processes, ensuring product quality, and maintaining compliance with international and Tanzanian standards. Key Responsibilities Production Planning & Operations Plan, organize, and manage end-to-end production activities to achieve monthly and annual production targets. Optimize production processes for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and consistent quality. Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Procurement, and Logistics teams to ensure uninterrupted operations. Monitor and control raw material consumption, yields, and process losses . Quality & Compliance Ensure strict adherence to product specifications (%N, %PO, %KO, etc.) as per international and Tanzanian (TFRA, TBS) standards. Drive implementation of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ISO/quality management systems . Address quality issues promptly and implement corrective/preventive actions. Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization Lead initiatives for process improvements, energy conservation, and productivity enhancement . Utilize data-driven decision-making, KPIs, and modern production management techniques. Support capacity expansion and technology upgrades in coordination with senior management. Leadership & Team Management Lead, mentor, and develop a team of production engineers, supervisors, and operators. Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement . Conduct regular training programs to enhance team technical competence. Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Ensure full compliance with HSE standards and statutory regulations . Promote a proactive safety culture and lead incident investigations when required. Qualifications & Experience Educational Qualification: B.Sc. (Science Graduate) Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or related discipline from a reputed institution. Professional Experience: Minimum 15 years of experience in NPK fertilizer production operations . At least 5 years in a leadership/head role overseeing large-scale NPK production units. Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of granulation, blending, and compaction processes in NPK production. Strong understanding of process control systems, plant operations, and troubleshooting . Key Competencies: Exceptional leadership, planning, and organizational skills. Excellent communication and team management abilities. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure. Preferred Attributes Experience in commissioning, plant expansions, and modernization projects . Exposure to ISO, TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma practices . Proven track record of achieving production targets with cost efficiency .
