They also label, store, and deliver blood samples to the lab. Phlebotomists explain procedures to patients and maintain a clean and sanitary work area. Key Responsibilities: Blood Collection: Draw blood from patients via venipuncture or capillary puncture. Sample Preparation: Properly label, store, and transport blood samples to the lab. Patient Care: Explain procedures to patients, address concerns, and ensure patient comfort. Record Keeping: Accurately record patient information and test results. Safety and Hygiene: Maintain a clean and sterile work environment, adhering to all safety protocols. Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of phlebotomy equipment. Collaboration: Work effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Additional Duties: May assist with other laboratory tasks, such as collecting urine samples or performing routine lab tests.
