As an HTML5 Game Developer in Mumbai, you will be responsible for building lightweight, cross-platform web games using JavaScript or TypeScript. Your primary focus will be on working with Phaser3 or ultrasmall microframeworks to ensure total bundle size (engine + assets) is kept under 2MB. You will integrate 2D art spritesheets, GIF loops, tile maps, and audio to guarantee fast load times. Additionally, you will implement game mechanics, such as input handling, scoring, physics, or simple collision, and set up analytics events for the adserving backend. Collaboration with designers to translate mockups and brand guidelines into playable builds is a key aspect of this role. It is essential to maintain clean, modular code with thorough documentation and Git version control. The must-have skills for this position include having at least 3 years of experience in building HTML5 or browser-based games, with at least one live title. You should be an expert in JavaScript or TypeScript (ES6+) and have a deep familiarity with Phaser3's custom build workflow. A proven track record of reducing engine footprints to create sub-200KB gzipped builds is required, along with strong performance optimization skills, such as asset compression, lazy loading, and draw call minimization. Experience in slicing and packing spritesheets for efficient runtime loading and comfort with Git-based workflows in small, agile teams are also essential. Nice-to-have skills include hands-on knowledge of microframeworks or vanilla Canvas/WebGL for zero-dependency builds, a basic understanding of WebGL or Three.js for occasional effects, familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for automated game builds and deployments, and knowledge of adtech standards like VAST tags and tracking pixels.
