As a Principal Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) at our high-growth E-commerce client based in Bangalore, you will be an integral part of revolutionizing how millions of households shop for groceries and daily essentials through our tech-first approach to supply chain and fulfillment operations. With over 10 years of experience in a fast-paced consumer tech environment, you will be responsible for architecting, automating, and securing the companys MySQL/PostgreSQL infrastructure on AWS. Your role will involve designing and operating scalable, secure, and automated MySQL/PostgreSQL infrastructure on AWS, including RDS and EC2 services. You will lead efforts in Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and scripting languages like Python, Bash, and Go to automate repetitive database operations. Optimizing query, schema, and system performance for high-throughput workloads will be a key focus area, along with executing major version upgrades with rollback planning and zero downtime. In this position, you will architect scale-out strategies such as replication, sharding, ProxySQL, Vitess, and Percona to support the companys growth across 30+ cities and 15M+ monthly orders. Implementing partitioning and data archival strategies to ensure long-term growth and compliance with security standards like SOC 2, PCI DSS, and ISO 27001 will also be part of your responsibilities. Furthermore, you will drive security hardening efforts by implementing role-based access, encryption, and audit controls. Monitoring database health using tools like CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or PMM, supporting incident management, RCA, and postmortems, and contributing to systemic reliability improvements will also be essential tasks. Additionally, you will mentor other engineers and guide best practices across teams on database architecture and performance.,

Primary responsibilities :- Installation and configuration of MySQL instances on single or multiple ports. Hands-on experience of working with MysQL 8and MySQL 5.7 . Clear understanding of MysQL Replication process flows , threads , setting up multi node clusters and basic troubleshooting. Understanding of at least one of the backupand recovery methods for MySQL . Strong fundamentals of SQL and able to understand and tune complex SQL queries when needed. Strong fundamentals on the linux system sideand monitoring tools like top , iostats , sar etc. At Least couple of years of production hands on experienceon medium to big sized MySQL databases. Setting up and maintaining users and privilegesmanagement system and troubleshooting relevant access issues. Some exposure to external tools like Percona , ProxySQL , HAP etc. Understand the transaction flowsand ACID compliance. Basic understanding of networking concepts . Performing on-call support and should be able to provide the first level support . Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Secondary responsibilities. : Able to configure and setup NOSQL databases like mongodb and Cassandra. Ability to write basic scripts usingtools like shell , python . perl etc to provide automation to repetitive tasks. Ability to learn new technologies along with team and a positive outlook to understand problems from the business point of view.
