As an experienced ICSS Functional Test Procedure Development Engineer with a strong background in oil and gas and commissioning projects, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and documenting comprehensive functional test procedures for various ICSS components. This includes IPCS, SIS, SIF, GDS, PECS Logic/interlocks, complex loops, PECS SIS, PECS SIF, and ESD Logic, while ensuring adherence to relevant industry standards. It is essential to conduct thorough reviews and analysis of project specifications, ICSS architecture diagrams, control system philosophies, cause and effect matrices, loop diagrams, instrument datasheets, and vendor documentation to gain a complete understanding of system functionality and testing mandates. Proactively identifying essential functional tests to verify the operation of control logic, safety interlocks, alarm functions, communication integrity, and overall system performance under various scenarios is a key aspect of the role. Ensuring strict compliance with international standards, company policies, safety regulations, and best practices within the oil and gas sector is crucial. Collaborating closely with ICSS design engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to clarify design intent and address technical queries is necessary for effective procedure development. Your involvement in Hazard and Operability studies and Safety Integrity Level verification workshops will facilitate the incorporation of safety-critical testing requirements into functional test procedures to ensure safety integrity. Defining measurable acceptance criteria for each test step, preparing comprehensive test documentation, and managing deviation reports are essential tasks throughout the testing lifecycle. Strong technical writing skills are required to produce clear, concise, and accurate test procedures, reports, and documentation. To qualify for this role, you should hold a Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering with a focus on automation or a related discipline. With a minimum of 10+ years of experience in ICSS functional testing and commissioning in the oil and gas industry, including procedure development, you should possess in-depth knowledge of ICSS architectures, communication protocols, process control principles, and safety instrumented systems. Experience with P&IDs, control narratives, cause and effect matrices, and safety requirements specifications is beneficial. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills are essential, along with technical certifications such as Functional Safety Engineer.
