JOB DESCRIPTION Company Name: PAMS ENGINEERING Company Address: No. 72/A2, Hootagalli Industrial Area, Mysore - 570018 Designation: Senior Engineer – Welding & Assembly Department: Welding & Assembly (Manufacturing / Production) Reporting to: Manager – Manufacturing / Production Head Essential Qualification: Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering Experience: 08 to 10 + Years in welding and assembly operations, preferably in automotive or manufacturing sectors. SKILLS, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Welding Operations: Develop and validate welding processes (MIG, TIG, Spot, etc.) based on product specifications and codes (ASME, AWS, ISO, etc.). Define Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Tests (WQT). Review weld symbols, NDT requirements, and inspection criteria. Troubleshoot welding defects and implement corrective/preventive actions. Ensure adherence to welding standards and customer specifications. Assembly Operations: Lead and monitor mechanical and structural assembly processes. Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and assembly guidelines. Coordinate with design and quality teams to ensure dimensional accuracy and assembly integrity. Optimize material flow and line balancing for assembly processes. Quality & Compliance: Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 (as applicable). Collaborate with Quality Assurance for process audits, root cause analysis, and CAPA implementation. Conduct in-process checks, first article inspections (FAI), and final inspections. Establish quality policies, procedures, and documentation to support manufacturing operations and quality objectives. Continuous Improvement: Lead Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen initiatives for productivity and cost reduction. Implement automation or semi-automation in welding/assembly where feasible. Conduct time studies and implement ergonomic improvements. People & Safety Management: Guide and train welders and assembly technicians; ensure skill matrix compliance. Promote safety practices and participate in risk assessments and hazard identification (HIRA/JSA). Maintain 5S and workplace organization standards. Root Cause Analysis and Problem-solving: Investigate and analyze quality issues and non-conformances using root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 8D Problem Solving). Implement corrective and preventive actions to address root causes and prevent recurrence of quality issues. Quality Metrics and Reporting: Develop and maintain key quality performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and report on quality performance. Generate quality reports and presentations for management review, highlighting trends, areas for improvement, and corrective actions taken. New Product Introduction (NPI) Support: Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) activities to ensure that quality requirements are defined and met during product development and launch phases. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess manufacturability, reliability, and quality risks of new products. Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to quality assurance team members and manufacturing personnel on quality processes, tools, and methodologies. Foster a culture of quality excellence and continuous improvement throughout the organization. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant automotive regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements (e.g., FMVSS, ECE, RoHS). Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks in manufacturing processes and products. Develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize the impact on product quality and customer satisfaction. Leadership and Collaboration: Provide leadership and direction to the production team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, procurement, and sales, to address quality-related concerns and drive quality improvement initiatives.
