Paint Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Paint Technologist with specialized expertise in shade matching for texture paints . The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, correcting, and maintaining accurate color shades in textured coatings, ensuring visual consistency and quality across production batches. This role is critical for upholding brand aesthetics and customer satisfaction in premium wall texture finishes. Key Responsibilities: Accurately match shades across different texture finishes (e.g., rustic, marble, stone, metallic, etc.) using both manual and computerized systems. Develop and correct color formulations based on customer samples, design specifications, or reference shades. Conduct trial batches and oversee lab-to-production scale-up for new shade development. Perform QC checks for color consistency during and post-manufacturing. Maintain a shade library and update formulation records for all texture systems. Coordinate with R&D and Production teams to troubleshoot any color variation or rejection issues. Liaise with suppliers for pigment and binder compatibility in textured systems. Train production staff and QC teams on standard shade matching practices and visual evaluation techniques. Work closely with the design/marketing team for the development of new designer finishes. Required Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Paint Technology / Chemical Engineering / Surface Coatings. 3+ years of experience in shade matching, preferably in decorative or textured paints. Strong understanding of pigment behavior, color theory, and texture application techniques. Familiarity with spectrophotometers and shade matching software (e.g., X-Rite, Datacolor). Knowledge of various binders used in textured systems (acrylic, lime-based, silicone, etc.). Excellent attention to detail and color perception. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams under production timelines. Preferred Attributes: Creative approach to solving aesthetic and formulation challenges. Experience working with premium or artisanal wall finishes. Exposure to automated color matching equipment is a plus.
