Role & responsibilities: Design and develop custom packing solutions for various auto components, considering product dimensions, handling requirements, and logistics constraints. Create detailed packing drawings and specifications using AutoCAD and other design tools. Define packing specifications based on the nature, size, and sensitivity of components being packed. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, logistics, and procurement, to ensure packaging meets operational and safety requirements. Perform should-cost analysis for packaging materials to support cost optimization and supplier negotiations. Maintain and update packaging data in the SAP MM module, ensuring alignment with procurement and material management processes. Evaluate and select packaging materials based on product compatibility, durability, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness. Ensure all packaging designs are compliant with internal standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations. Preferred candidate profile: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. 3 - 7 years of experience in packing design within the automotive or manufacturing sector. Proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D packaging design and drawing. Strong skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, costing, and reporting. Working knowledge of SAP MM module for material and packaging data management. Understanding of should-costing principles and cost breakdown for packaging components. Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for packaging and logistics. Knowledge of sustainable packaging solutions and recyclable materials. Experience with returnable packaging systems (e.g., bins, pallets, dunnage). Exposure to lean manufacturing and supply chain principles.
