Electrical & Instrumentation Design Engineer for Project PU. Division : C&H Heating SBU – E&I Engineering Qualification : B.E (Instrumentation) Experience : 4-7 years with Design Engineering. Location : Eco House, Chinchwad, Pune Brief Job Description : To prepare Instrumentation, Electrical Detail Engineering documents required for procurement and construction for Oil & gas, Solid fuel fired Boilers & Heaters of Thermax make which caters to the specifications of the clients / consultants and our process requirements. Role & Responsibilities: 1. Develop P&ID along with process Engg. 2. Preparation of Instrument specifications for all field instruments as per P&ID meeting contract, process requirements. 3. Preparation of detailed specifications for Control panel / PLC / DCS based control / shutdown system, analyzers as per P&ID meeting contract, process requirements. 4. Preparation of Instrument hook up diagrams along with BOMs 5. Preparation of JB & Cable schedule, Electrical & Instrumentation cable tray layouts, Earthing layouts, Panel, JB, Instrument location drawings. 6. Preparation of control room layouts. 7. Voltage drop calculations. 8. Preparation of PLC programming documents like Input / output list, Control narrative, Logic diagrams, Control Schemes, Drives logic diagrams. 9. Preparation of BOM for Electrical & Instrumentation cable, cable tray, Cable glands, Adaptors & accessories. 10. Participation in HAZOP, SIL studies / review meetings with clients. 11. Review / preparation of single line diagram, Power & control wiring for MCC / PDB. 12. Review of vendor documents for all the Electrical / Instrumentation items, package equipment including SWAS, Burners & it’s controllers. 13. Support to Marketing for proposal involving brief instrumentation item list meeting tender requirements. 14. Support to QAC, Field Engg. (Commissioning / SSBU), Construction as and when required. 15. Interaction with vendor and clients for drawing approvals. 16. Vendor development for new product requirement Critical Competencies of the job Knowledge of Basic Instrumentation Engineering of Pressure / Temperature / Flow / Level measurement methods / Analyzers / control valves / BMS as applicable to Boilers & heater is essential. Basic Knowledge of control scheme / logic diagrams / PLC / DCS / UPS is essential. Knowledge of Hazardous area, SIL requirements / study, NFPA is essential. Thorough process knowledge of Oil & Gas Boilers & Heaters. Familiarity with electrical systems such as Drives, Motorized Actuators, LT MCC, Motors would be an advantage Written and Verbal communication, Approach to Cross functional team as interaction for data collection, it’s follow up.

Create inspection isometrics with weld mapping, NDT references, and material traceability. Collaborate with piping engineers, QA/QC teams, and construction personnel to ensure drawing accuracy and compliance. Interpret P&IDs, GA drawings, and piping layouts to generate detailed inspection documentation. Maintain drawing databases and ensure version control in line with project documentation standards. Support as-built drawing updates based on redlines and field markups. Ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and client requirements.

Support P&IDs preparation based on customer requirements Identify, create and support project documentation including, but not limited to HMI, PLC programming, power distribution, control/signal wiring, wireless technology, cabinet/panel design, BOM and layout drawings. Develop instrumentation specifications as related to process requirements and control schemes. Support engineering, project management and deployment groups to identify and resolve technical issues. Provide technical direction as required. Work with outside vendors and purchasing to select and establish equipment component specifications, material take-offs, requisitions and vendor orders while coordinating cost control, project schedule and manufacturing efforts. Have the ability to work independently and in an interdisciplinary team environment to perform all duties in a professional and timely manner. Must be able to work through problems from a technical and practical prospective, while maintaining cost controls. Prepare, check, and issue instrument schedule and list, including document index, instrument index, I/O list, cable schedule, interconnection wiring drawings, termination drawings, junction box schedule, instrument hookup drawings, and material take off. Check and issue block diagrams, control/rack room layout, cable route, instrument location plan, DCS, SIS, BMS systems loop drawings, instrument hook-up details, and instrument sizing and calculation. Prepare and issue instrument data sheets for control valves, on-off valves, PCVs, MOVs, PSVs, and other field instruments. Guide designers to prepare drawings. Ensure that engineering is completed accurately within schedule and budget Carry out value engineering assessments of all projects under the incumbent's control. Confirm compliance with customer specifications and process requirements. Prepare / develop / supervise in preparing Instrument Index, Instrument datasheets, IO List, alarm List, Cause and Effect Matrix Prepare / develop / supervise automation engineering documentation such as functional description specifications, control system architecture etc for Control Panel design. Attend FAT of control panels, programming, PLC at supplier's place to ensure assigned project requirement. Support during commissioning for the assigned projects. Equipment Specification and Procurement / RFQ: Prepare technical specifications for field instruments like Gauges, Transmitters, Flow meters, Analyzers and work with vendors to procure the required components. Evaluate equipment proposals and make recommendations based on technical and budgetary considerations. Confirm compliance with customer specifications for equipment and material types; Review and approve drawings and documents from Vendors. Interface with Process, Civil / Structural, Piping, Instrumentation Engineers for complete engineering work. Collaborate with Technical project manager to plan and execute projects on time and on budgeted manhours. Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and progress assessments to ensure project objectives are met. Quality Control and Compliance: Ensure that all Electrical designs and installations comply with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices. Conduct quality control reviews to verify design integrity and safety. Cost Estimation and Budget Management: Collaborate with the project team to prepare cost estimates for mechanical components and equipment. Identify cost-saving opportunities where applicable. Requirements: Sr. Instrumentation Design Engineer with B.E / B.Tech (Instrumentation & Control, Electronics & Instrumentation Engg) 6 - 10 Yrs of Experience in field of Instrumentation Engineering Design in Water, Power plant, Chemical and Oil & Gas Industry. Weight optimization with support from the Engineering team. Providing timely inputs to our Construction team & obtaining an estimation of I&C costs. Bought-out’s Estimation - Floating RFQs and collecting backup quotations for bought-out items from approved sub-suppliers, referring to buying experience in the recent past, understanding fair pricing, negotiating with sub-suppliers, and preparing the best possible cost estimate. Post-Order : Project Creation, ODS Release, Conducting OTM, preparing WBS, Budget entry in ERP, resolving ODS clarifications, Review of Basic Engineering, supporting project execution team as & when necessary, collecting feedback on estimation v/s actual executed data of fabrication quantities, bought-out costs, logistics costs, construction costs, etc. Right First Time Proposal development & accurate cost estimation To develop a reference database for sizing, weight estimation & bought-out cost estimation Continual improvement and optimization by collecting feedback from executed projects, inputs from industry/market, etc. Preferred candidate profile 1. Flair knowledge in reading Mechanical drawings and understanding capital equipment’s and its corresponding instruments. 3.
