OT Technician

Key Responsibilities:1. Pre-Operative Duties

• Prepare the operation theatre before each surgery with sterile instruments, drapes, and required equipment.
• Verify functionality of OT equipment (anesthesia machine, suction apparatus, monitors, cautery units, etc.).
• Ensure all surgical instruments are cleaned, sterilized, and arranged according to the surgical list.
• Check and replenish consumables and surgical kits before procedures.
• Assist in patient shifting and positioning as per the surgeon’s instructions.

2. Intra-Operative Duties

• Assist surgeons and anesthetists during surgical procedures.
• Pass instruments and handle equipment smoothly and efficiently.
• Maintain strict aseptic techniques throughout the procedure.
• Monitor usage and count of surgical instruments, sponges, and sharps.
• Handle tissue specimens safely and label them accurately for lab submission.

3. Post-Operative Duties

• Ensure proper cleaning and sterilization of OT instruments and trolleys after each case.
• Dispose of biomedical waste according to hospital infection control policies.
• Assist in preparing the OT for the next case promptly.
• Maintain documentation of procedures, equipment usage, and sterilization records.

4. Equipment & Inventory Management

• Conduct regular checks on OT equipment for functionality and report maintenance needs.
• Maintain stock levels of instruments, sutures, and consumables.
• Coordinate with the CSSD (Central Sterile Supply Department) for timely sterilization.

5. Infection Control & Safety

• Adhere to hospital infection control and sterilization protocols.
• Ensure use of PPE and follow safety procedures in the OT complex.
• Participate in infection control audits and quality improvement programs.

6. Training & Teamwork

• Mentor junior OT technicians and assist in their skill development.
• Participate in training programs and departmental meetings.
• Maintain a professional attitude and contribute to smooth OT functioning.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: Diploma / B.Sc. in Operation Theatre Technology (recognized institution).
• Experience: Minimum 1–3 years of experience in OT .
• Technical Skills:
• Thorough knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment
• Familiarity with various surgical procedures (General Surgery, Ortho, Gynae, ENT, etc.)
• Good understanding of infection control and sterilization standards
• Soft Skills:
• Teamwork, discipline, and time management
• Effective communication with surgeons, anesthetists, and nurses
• Calm and focused under pressure

Working Conditions:

• Rotational shifts including nights, weekends, and emergency duties.
• Exposure to surgical environments requiring adherence to strict hygiene and safety measures.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
