OT In-Charge (Veterinary Operation Theater)

Chief Veterinary Surgeon / Hospital Administrator

Experience Required:

3-5 years in veterinary surgical operations or similar healthcare settings

Qualification:

Degree/Diploma in Veterinary Science/Animal Nursing/OT Technician or equivalent

Job Summary:

The OT In-Charge will be responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the veterinary operation theatre. This includes ensuring surgical readiness, maintaining aseptic conditions, coordinating with veterinary surgeons, supervising OT staff, managing equipment and surgical supplies, and ensuring compliance with safety and hygiene protocols.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate all OT activities in the animal hospital.

  • Prepare OT and ensure readiness prior to all surgical procedures.

  • Assist veterinary surgeons during surgeries when required.

  • Maintain aseptic techniques and ensure proper sterilization of instruments and surgical area.

  • Ensure timely availability and maintenance of surgical instruments, OT equipment, and consumables.

  • Oversee and train OT assistants, technicians, and support staff.

  • Monitor and maintain OT schedules, ensuring optimal utilization of theatre time.

  • Ensure proper documentation of procedures, surgical logs, and incident reports.

  • Collaborate with procurement for inventory and surgical supplies.

  • Maintain infection control protocols and oversee biomedical waste management.

  • Handle emergencies and assist in post-operative care coordination.

  • Ensure compliance with veterinary healthcare regulations and hospital SOPs.

  • Strong understanding of veterinary surgical procedures.

  • Knowledge of aseptic and sterilization protocols.

  • Good leadership and team management skills.

  • Ability to work in high-pressure environments.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

  • Effective communication and coordination abilities.

  • Basic computer skills for report keeping and scheduling.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a veterinary or animal hospital setup.

  • Certification in Operation Theatre Technology (preferably veterinary-focused).

  • Familiarity with small animal and large animal surgical protocols.
