Oru Cutting Cafe is a beloved cafe-restaurant in Hosur, known for its delicious and affordable food. For the past 5 years, we've built a strong local reputation, especially among the employees of Ashok Leyland. We pride ourselves on tasty food and a welcoming atmosphere, serving an average of ₹5 lakhs in revenue monthly. As we enter our next phase of growth, we're seeking a passionate and proactive individual to join our small, dedicated team and help us elevate our operations and customer experience. Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Cafe Operations Manager (Working Manager) to be the backbone of our daily operations. This is a hands-on role where you will actively participate in customer service and order-taking, while also overseeing the efficiency, quality, and smooth functioning of the entire cafe. You will be instrumental in implementing systems, training our team, and ensuring our high standards are consistently met. Key Responsibilities: 1. Daily Operations & Customer Service (Approx. 60-70% of time): * Greet customers warmly and provide excellent service, ensuring a positive dining experience. * Efficiently operate the Point-of-Sale (POS) system for accurate order taking, billing, and cash handling. * Handle cash transactions and reconcile daily sales accurately. * Manage table assignments and ensure dining areas are clean and well-maintained. * Assist with serving food and beverages during peak hours to ensure timely service. * Address customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints promptly and professionally. * Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting cafe environment at all times. 2. Team Supervision & Training (Approx. 30-40% of time): * Staff Management: Supervise a small team (currently 5 people including yourself) during shifts, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and standards are upheld. * Training & Development: Train new and existing staff members on POS usage, order taking protocols, customer service excellence, cleaning procedures, and overall cafe standards. * Scheduling: Assist in creating and managing daily/weekly staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage. * Performance Monitoring: Provide constructive feedback to staff, recognizing good performance and addressing areas for improvement. * Problem Solving: Proactively identify and resolve operational issues as they arise (e.g., equipment malfunctions, supply shortages, minor staff conflicts). * Employee Relations: Act as a key point of contact for staff concerns, fostering a positive and respectful work environment. 3. Operational Management & Improvement: * Inventory Support: Assist with basic inventory checks for front-of-house items and communicate kitchen inventory needs to the owner. * Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Work with the owner to develop and implement clear SOPs for all cafe functions (e.g., opening/closing, cleaning, order flow). * Quality Control: Ensure food quality and presentation meet our established standards. * Hygiene & Safety: Oversee and ensure adherence to all food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness regulations. * Reporting: Provide daily reports to the owner on sales, key issues, and team performance. Qualifications: Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in a fast-paced cafe, restaurant, or quick-service restaurant environment. Prior experience in a supervisory or team lead role is highly preferred. Proficiency in POS systems is essential; experience with [mention your specific POS system if you want, otherwise keep it general]. Strong understanding of cafe/restaurant operations, including order flow, customer service, and basic inventory. Excellent communication (verbal and written in Malayalam, Tamil and English), interpersonal, and leadership skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a genuine passion for food and customer service. High level of reliability, honesty, and integrity. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays (Sundays are our busiest day).
