Oracle Database Administrator

Role & responsibilities

To provide comprehensive Database Operations Support ensuring high availability, performance, scalability, and compliance for all production and non-production environments..

a. Build, support, and decommission database environments across Development, UAT, Production, and DR.

1. Maintain synchronized and stable environments for Production and DR.
2. Perform proactive monitoring and alert resolution.
3. Conduct regular health checks for all Oracle and MS SQL databases, identifying top resource-consuming queries and optimizing performance.

e. Lead end-to-end DB platform services including installation, configuration, upgrades, data migration, and patching. Implement and maintain platform documentation and knowledge base. We will only perform minor upgrades. Any major upgrades to be taken as part of a separate CR.

f. Provide integration testing with applications and ensure connectivity across environments.

1. Support Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) and MOD2/Bimodal development models for agile delivery.

Process Administration

1. Operate and monitor all DB-related processes using SBICard toolsets.
2. Ensure timely response and resolution to faults, incidents, and changes.
3. Manage OEM alerts, SRs, CMRs, and ITOM tickets as per defined SLAs.

Patching & Maintenance

1. Perform quarterly PSU/security patching across all environments.
2. Evaluate patch impact in Dev/UAT before Production deployment.
3. Ensure housekeeping, statistics gathering, data purging, and index maintenance are regularly performed.

Backup & Restoration

1. Conduct biannual DR restoration drills and quarterly backup verification.
2. Ensure backups, OEM, and monitoring reports are published regularly.

Security & Compliance

1. Implement PCI-DSS compliant DB auditing, data masking, redaction, and encryption practices.
2. Address and close all audit observations and SCD control implementation.
3. Provide support for Oracle Key Vault and other HSM technologies.

Incident & Change Management

1. Manage SRs, CMRs and OEM proactive incidents as per SLA.

Other database operational activities

1. Index/table fragmentation identification and fixing.
2. Regular refresh & build of UAT environments.
3. Monthly/quarterly DB health checks with recommendations.
4. Support for ECMR and standard CMRs with defined TATs.
5. DB builds to be managed with agility for continuous deployment.

Technology Stack

1. Databases: Oracle (RAC, Exadata, Data Guard and Data Broker), MS SQL Server
2. Tools: OEM, GoldenGate, Oracle Key Vault, Data Masking/Redaction/Encryption
3. Security: HSMs, Audit Vault, SCD, PCIDSS and RBI Controls
4. Others: Clustering, Log Shipping, Always On, DevOps, CI/CD tools
