Your role as an Optomechanical Engineer will involve developing innovative designs for telescope systems and high-precision optical assemblies for both terrestrial and space applications. Here's what you can expect: **Responsibilities:** - Develop innovative optomechanical designs for telescope systems and high-precision optical assemblies for terrestrial and space applications. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and design constraints, ensuring integration meets stringent mission objectives. - Conduct feasibility studies, technical risk assessments, and analysis under operational and environmental loads. - Utilize CAD software for detailed models, mechanical layouts, and technical documentation. - Perform structural and thermal FEA for optomechanical trade studies. - Select components, materials, and processes for mounting precision optics in extreme environments. - Develop procedures for optical alignment, system assembly, and verification testing. - Manage vendor relationships and coordinate fabrication, procurement, and quality inspection. - Engage in prototyping, integration, testing, and validation of designs. **Qualifications:** - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. - 2-3 years of experience in optomechanical design for high-precision instrumentation. - Proficiency in mechanical design principles, structural mechanics, and geometric dimensioning. - Experience with industry-standard FEA software and thermal management. - Knowledge of metrology/alignment techniques and quality control practices. **Preferred Qualities:** - Experience with manufacturing drawings and release documentation. - Knowledge of machining processes, advanced materials, and space-qualified components. - Familiarity with optical system metrics and integration/testing under various conditions. - Understanding of quality control, inspection methods, and technical supplier evaluation.
