As a Senior Engineering Manager at Nutanix, you will be instrumental in the development of a Data Management, Security, and Compliance platform to support Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) and other Industry Storage products. Your primary objective will be to lead the creation of reliable, efficient, and high-performance software for large-scale enterprise and hybrid clouds. This role will require you to delve into complex distributed systems to address customer requirements effectively. Reporting directly to Pankaj Sinha, who heads the Data Lens technical team, you will benefit from his extensive experience in product development spanning over 25 years in enterprise and startup environments. Pankaj's leadership has seen the team grow from inception to over 50 engineers, and he is currently focused on building scalable data management, security, and compliance solutions for Nutanix. Under his guidance, you will have the chance to work on projects such as Data pipeline, Smart Tiering, Ransomware protection, and Scheduler, leveraging his wealth of knowledge to drive innovation within the team. At Nutanix, our work setup is hybrid, combining remote work with in-office collaboration. You will be expected to be present in the office 2-3 times a week, ensuring that the team remains connected and cohesive. Whether working remotely or in person, you will engage in cross-functional collaboration, benefitting from interactions across various time zones and regions. In-office days provide opportunities for face-to-face engagement, brainstorming sessions, and team-building activities, fostering a sense of camaraderie and synergy within the team. Your responsibilities will encompass both People Management and Product & Technical leadership. On the People Management front, you will be tasked with nurturing and expanding a talented software engineering team located across multiple sites in India and the USA. This will involve cultivating a culture of empowerment and growth, overseeing hiring processes, providing coaching, managing performance, and facilitating career development for your engineers. In the realm of Product and Technical leadership, you will collaborate with Product teams, Quality Assurance, and Product Management to shape the technical roadmap for the Data Lens product. Your role will also involve driving the creation of a scalable, extensible architecture through active participation in architectural design and technical planning for the data platform. Additionally, you will be responsible for Engineering Process & Release Management. This entails establishing software development best practices, optimizing the release planning process for iterative and rapid feature deployment, and coordinating with teams across different geographies to ensure timely and high-quality software releases. Collaboration with Program Management will be crucial in defining the release process and ensuring its efficient execution. To excel in this role, you should possess a BA, BS, or MS degree in computer science or a related field, along with more than 15 years of experience in software product development. A minimum of 4 years in Engineering Management is required, in addition to excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Golang is essential, as is experience with Big Data technologies and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP. Familiarity with storage systems, the security domain, and containers (Kubernetes) will be advantageous. An ownership mindset, coupled with experience in fast-paced and demanding environments, will be beneficial, as will a solid understanding of SaaS and on-prem development best practices.,
