Job Summary JOB DESCRIPTION The Systems Engineer is responsible for the planning, implementation, and administration of enterprise infrastructure with a specialized focus on the Microsoft 365 productivity suite. This role ensures the stability, security, and performance of Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD). Key Responsibilities Provide expertise and assist customers, developers, and partners with design decisions. Provide technical support, operations and problem resolution of systems infrastructure as required, including 24X7 On-Call support. Recommend and implement standards, policies, and procedures to achieve agreed upon service levels by tuning, maintaining, and supporting a breadth of infrastructure. Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation. Manage identity and access, including the implementation and maintenance of Microsoft Active Directory and EntraID. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive for Business administration. Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 security, compliance, and governance features. Work closely with the business stakeholders and developers to ensure smooth planning, implementation and cutovers of systems. Promote Infrastructure as Code practices using tools like Terraform and Ansible. Provide on-going maintenance and implementation of updates and patches. Provide support and implementation planning for business continuity and disaster recovery. Prepare and deliver presentations to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences. Must have a good grasp of system trends and the mission of the group to provide the most cost effective and efficient systems. Maintain monitoring and data gathering systems for reporting and performance purposes. Establish and maintain working relationships with vendors to address and resolve problems. Maintain the systems roadmap for lifecycle, improvements and upgrades and capacity planning functions. Microsoft Enterprise Productivity Suite: Microsoft Teams Administration: Configure and manage Teams policies, lifecycle, and governance. Support Teams voice integration, channel structure, app integrations, and compliance settings to ensure secure and effective collaboration. SharePoint Online Management: Design and maintain SharePoint sites, libraries, and permissions. Implement content management strategies, automate workflows using Power Automate, and ensure compliance with data retention and sharing policies. OneDrive for Business Oversight: Manage user provisioning, sharing settings, and data protection policies. Monitor usage and troubleshoot sync issues to ensure seamless file access and collaboration. Identity and Access Management: Administer Microsoft Entra ID and on-premises Active Directory, including Conditional Access, MFA, and role-based access controls (RBAC). Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate administrative tasks across Microsoft 365 services. Monitoring and Reporting: Use Microsoft 365 Admin Center, Defender for Cloud Apps, and Log Analytics to monitor service health, usage trends, and security incidents. Lifecycle and Compliance: Plan and execute updates, patching, and configuration management. Implement DLP, retention policies, and audit logging to meet compliance requirements. Collaboration and Support: Provide Tier 3 support for Microsoft 365 services. Collaborate with business units to align platform capabilities with operational needs. Documentation and Training: Maintain detailed documentation, architecture diagrams, and user guides. Deliver training and knowledge transfer to IT staff and end users. Cloud Integration: Support hybrid identity with Azure AD Connect and manage cloud resources in Azure and AWS. Azure and AWS Cloud technologies: Design, implement, and manage cloud-based solutions to support business operations. Ensure the security, availability, and performance of cloud services. Collaborate with teams to migrate existing applications and infrastructure to cloud platforms. Utilize Infrastructure as Code to Promote automation when appropriate Monitor and optimize cloud resource usage and costs.
