We are looking for an experienced OneTrust Data Discovery specialist to lead the onboarding, scanning, classification and curation of approximately 200 on-premises SQL Server databases and Unstructured data repositories for a regulated financial services client. The role combines hands-on OneTrust engineering with stakeholder engagement. You will configure and run discovery scans, tune classifiers, curate findings with data owners, and integrate secure credential management through CyberArk Conjur. You will work closely with client DBA, security, privacy and data governance teams to deliver an accurate, audit-ready sensitive-data inventory.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Discovery: Configure OneTrust and scan SQL Server databases and unstructured data.
- Data Classification: Create custom classifiers and reduce false positives/negatives.
- Findings Curation: Review scan results, validate sensitive data, and maintain data inventories.
- Credential Integration: Integrate CyberArk Conjur with OneTrust for secure credentials.
- Automation: Use OneTrust REST APIs and Python for bulk database onboarding.
- Troubleshooting: Resolve scan failures, connectivity, and permission issues.
- Governance & Reporting: Maintain compliance reports, audit evidence, and documentation.
Required Skills and Experience
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with
OneTrust Data Discovery
: worker nodes, data sources, credentials, scan profiles, classification profiles, Discovery Review and Data Mapping. - Proven experience scanning
structured databases
, preferably Microsoft SQL Server, Unstructured data repositories at enterprise scale. - Strong knowledge of
data classification
, custom classifier design (regex, dictionaries, column matching) and false-positive and false-negative tuning. - Working knowledge of
CyberArk Conjur
or other enterprise secret vaults (HashiCorp Vault, Azure Key Vault) and reference-based credential integration. - Experience with
OneTrust REST APIs
and scripting (Python preferred) for bulk automation. - Good SQL Server knowledge: schemas, permissions, least-privilege read-only accounts and performance considerations.
- Understanding of privacy regulations, especially
PIPEDA
, Quebec Law 25
and GDPR principles. - Strong stakeholder communication skills, with experience running curation and review workshops with business and technical teams.
- Experience working in regulated industries, ideally banking, financial services or insurance.

- Able to explain technical findings in business and privacy terms.
- Ownership mindset with strong documentation discipline.
- Comfortable working across time zones with North American stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- OneTrust certifications (for example, Data Discovery, Data Mapping Automation, Privacy Rights Automation or AI Governance).
- OneTrust Certifications would preferred
- Exposure to other data-discovery platforms (BigID, Microsoft Purview, Varonis).
- Familiarity with financial-sector expectations such as OSFI B-10, B-13, E-21 and E-23.
- Exposure to AI/GenAI automation, RAG, Power Automate or Copilot Studio, and Responsible AI controls.
- Experience with ServiceNow, Jira and Agile delivery.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security or a related field.
