POSITION DESCRIPTION- NPD Quality Engineer Company Overview Steel1 is a leading contract manufacturer specializing in Ready-to-Assemble Steel Systems , serving global giants like Caterpillar, Alstom Transport, Terex, Doosan, CNH, and Schwing Stetter . Position Overview As an NPD Quality Engineer , you will be responsible for ensuring the Ontime/First Time Right Development and Smooth Launch of new product development (NPD) by implementing APQP, PPAP, requirements . You will work closely with Engineering, PED, Production, Customers and Suppliers to ensure the products meet the Drawing & regulatory requirements . Your role will also involve conducting R oot cause analysis, testing, and validation of NPD parts to guarantee defect-free launches. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities 1. New product development AccountabilitiesResponsibilities Ensure the Q uality requirements of NPD parts in each stage from design to production. Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Customers and Suppliers to ensure quality of New Product. Ensure the Quality documents as per QMS guidelines Develop the new products as per the Quality tools guidelines / Manuals (APQP PPAP, MSA, SPC, FMEA) Ensure regulatory requirements in addition to the drawing requirements. Utilize OMNEX effectively for documentation and process standardization. 2. Risk Assessment AccountabilitiesResponsibilities Assess the risk & identify the mitigation plan Review the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Lesson learnt in similar products during the development stage & provide the detailed inputs to Process engineers to update the process control documents / Work instructions at development stage itself. 3. Inspection plan AccountabilitiesResponsibilities Define the inspection plan Prepare the QAP Prepare the Quality inspection check sheets and signoff with customers before start of production. Define the annual the testing & validation plan and signoff with customer before start of production. 4. Continuous Improvement AccountabilitiesResponsibilities Improve the process Work for Continuous improvements / Kaizen. Improve the First pass yield by taking the robust actions. 5. Action plan AccountabilitiesResponsibilities Ensure the robust actions for initial build issues Lead the sorting meeting for the build issues & ensure the robust action. Investigate the issues with the help of Why? Why? & Cause and Effect diagram Use the appropriate Quality techniques / tools for problem solving (8D, RCCA, One Pager). Ensure timely launch and smooth handover to mass production. Ensure on-time PPAP submission and approval in customer portal. Reports to be Prepared and Submitted: PPAP documents NPD parts - First Pass Yield & PPM Action plan / RCCA for build issues . Experience : 4-6 years in NPD Quality, Hands-on experience in testing, inspection and process validation. Certifications: (Preferred) Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Six Sigma Certification.GB Welding certifications Training related to New Product developments Skills and Competencies Must-Haves Strong collaborative skills for cross-functional teamwork. Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP requirements & New Product developments . Proficiency in risk assessment and failure mode analysis (FMEA) . Hands-on expertise in testing methodologies and inspection techniques . Strong problem-solving skills using RCCA and 8D methods . Handling of export customer Must have the fabrication knowledge (welding ,) Nice-to-Haves Understanding of ISO 9001 quality systems . Supplier qualification and process validation expertise. Exposure to Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma methodologies . Experience in cost of poor quality (COPQ) reduction strategies . Knowledge of regulatory compliance of new products .
