As a freelance consultant with deep expertise in Alfresco Document Management System (DMS), you will be involved in designing and implementing a custom Document Management System for a large-scale digitization initiative. This engagement is expected to be for 23 months on a remote-first basis with an immediate start. The role is open for both freelance and full-time consultants working remotely. Your primary responsibilities will include customizing and extending Alfresco (preferably CE) for an enterprise-grade DMS deployment. You will be required to develop workflows, access controls, and document classification schemas. Additionally, you will work on enabling integration with external systems such as HR, ERP, and email through REST APIs. It is essential to ensure support for a bilingual interface and align the solution with international archiving standards like ISO 14641 and ISO 14721. Collaboration with the in-house product team and support during user acceptance rollout will also be part of your role. The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 3 years of experience working with Alfresco DMS (Community or Enterprise). A strong background in Java, Spring, J2EE, REST APIs, and Alfresco SDK is required. Experience in configuring document metadata, version control, and workflows is crucial. Familiarity with OCR/ICR, especially for multilingual documents, is highly desirable. The ability to work independently and drive outcomes in a dynamic project environment is also essential. Bonus points will be awarded for exposure to document compliance standards such as ISO 14641/14721, experience in regulated industries, and familiarity with open-source alternatives like OpenKM and Nuxeo.
