Job Purpose The Head of Business Development will spearhead the company’s growth strategy by identifying, developing and managing new business opportunities in injection moulded components and products. This role requires a strong understanding of plastic moulding technologies, market dynamics across multiple sectors (automotive, toys, consumer durables, hardware ,defence, lifestyle) and a proven ability to build long-term customer relationships that drive sustainable revenue growth. Should be able to handle both for business development, business expansion as well as contribute in new product development new capabilities developments. Key Responsibilities: 1. Strategy & Business Growth Develop and implement a robust business development strategy aligned with company goals. Identify and evaluate new markets, customers and product opportunities in target industries. Drive revenue growth through strategic partnerships, key account management and market expansion. Conduct competitor analysis and market intelligence to shape go-to-market strategies. 2. Client Acquisition & Relationship Management Identify, pursue and close new business opportunities with OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers and large brands. Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers in target industries. Understand customer needs and work with design, engineering and production teams to offer customized injection moulded solutions. Manage the complete business development cycle—from lead generation and RFQ management to contract negotiation and handover to production. 3. Product & Technical Collaboration Collaborate with the R&D and production teams to develop innovative, manufacturable and cost-effective solutions. Translate market and customer insights into actionable product development strategies. 4. Financial & Commercial Management Drive profitability through strategic pricing, cost control and margin optimization. Prepare business proposals, financial forecasts and ROI analysis for potential projects. Negotiate contracts, supply agreements and long-term partnerships with clients .Leadership & Team Development Build, lead and mentor a high-performing business development and key accounts team. Set clear KPIs and performance metrics for sales growth, pipeline development and client satisfaction. Promote a customer-centric culture with focus on responsiveness, quality, and innovation. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Revenue and profit growth in target sectors Number and value of new business acquisitions Customer retention and satisfaction levels Pipeline conversion rate (leads to closed deals) Market share growth in key product segments Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Plastics Technology or related field. 10–15 years of experience in business development, sales or key account management within injection moulded products industry. Proven track record of selling to OEMs and Tier-1s in automotive, toys, consumer durables or lifestyle products sectors. Strong understanding of plastic materials, tooling, mould design and production processes. Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills. Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed. The role demands a strong understanding of injection moulding technology, tooling, materials and process optimization, along with experience in managing large-scale production for diverse sectors such as automotive, toys, consumer durables and lifestyle products. Indepth understanding of polymers and plastics is desired. Key Responsibilities: Strategic & Operational Leadership Develop and implement production strategies aligned with overall business objectives. Lead capacity planning, budgeting and forecasting for production operations. Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure alignment of production goals with quality, safety and delivery standards. Production Management Oversee the entire production process from planning to execution and delivery. Monitor KPIs such as yield, efficiency, downtime, cost per unit and on-time delivery. Manage production schedules and ensure resource optimization (manpower, materials, machinery). Coordinate with procurement, supply chain, quality and engineering teams to ensure smooth operations. People & Team Leadership Lead, coach and develop production managers, supervisors and staff. Foster a high-performance culture with accountability, teamwork and safety compliance. Implement training and skill development programs for production personnel. Quality, Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations. Maintain quality standards in line with ISO, GMP or relevant certifications. Drive root cause analysis and corrective action for production deviations or quality issues. Continuous Improvement Implement Lean Manufacturing or similar process improvement methodologies. Optimize workflows to reduce waste, improve efficiency and enhance product quality. Introduce automation and digital tools to modernize production capabilities. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Production output vs. target Cost efficiency and waste reduction On-time delivery rate Quality metrics (defect rates, rework levels) Employee productivity and retention Safety compliance and incident rate Qualifications & Experience: B.E. / B.TECH. (PLASTICS ENGINEERING / TECHNOLOGY) from CIPET or similar institute 15+ years of progressive experience in production or operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role Proven track record in managing large-scale production facilities or teams. Strong knowledge of production systems, Lean/Kaizen principles and quality management systems. Excellent leadership, problem-solving and communication skills.
