As a Nurse in our Dialysis Unit, your key responsibilities will include: Dialysis Treatment Management: Initiate, monitor, and discontinue hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatments safely and effectively according to physician orders and established protocols. Operate and maintain dialysis machines and related equipment, performing pre- and post-dialysis checks. Monitor patients vital signs, fluid balance, and overall condition throughout the dialysis session, responding promptly to any changes or complications. Administer prescribed medications during dialysis, accurately documenting all actions. Patient Assessment Care: Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments of dialysis patients, including physical, psychological, and social needs. Patient Education Support: Educate patients and their families about dialysis procedures, diet, fluid restrictions, medication regimens, and self-care techniques. Provide emotional support and counseling to patients coping with chronic kidney disease and dialysis. Documentation Compliance: Maintain accurate, complete, and timely electronic and paper documentation of all patient assessments, interventions, medications, and responses to treatment. Ensure strict adherence to infection control policies, safety protocols, and all hospital/unit guidelines. Comply with all local, state, and national nursing regulations and standards of practice for dialysis nursing. Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with nephrologists, dietitians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient care. Participate in team meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education programs.
