Senior QC Engineer in Sheet Metal Fabrication focuses on ensuring the quality of metal components during the fabrication process. They are responsible for ensuring that all metal parts meet design specifications, standards, and customer requirements. They also work closely with production teams to identify and resolve quality issues throughout the fabrication process. Job Overview: The QC Engineer in Sheet Metal Fabrication is responsible for overseeing the quality control process during the fabrication of metal parts, ensuring that the parts meet required specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements. They perform inspections, testing, and audits to detect any deviations from quality standards and work closely with production teams to ensure products meet customer and industry standards. Key Responsibilities: Conduct regular inspections of sheet metal parts throughout the fabrication process, including welding, bending, cutting, punching, and assembling. Ensure all products meet design specifications and customer requirements by reviewing engineering drawings and technical documents. Perform dimensional and visual inspections using a variety of measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.). Work with the production team to ensure processes are followed correctly and quality issues are addressed promptly. Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to sheet metal fabrication. Develop and implement quality control procedures to enhance product quality and minimize defects. Identify root causes of quality issues and work with the team to implement corrective actions. Document inspection results, non-conformances, and corrective actions taken. Assist in the training of operators and fabricators to ensure they understand quality requirements and procedures. Prepare and maintain reports related to quality control activities, including inspection results, audit findings, and improvement actions. Collaborate with engineering teams to provide feedback on design issues or improvements to ensure manufacturability and quality. Maintain and calibrate measuring instruments and ensure they are used correctly. Assist in preparing for audits and certifications as required by industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100). Continuously improve the quality control process and recommend changes to enhance efficiency and product quality. Required Skills and Qualifications: Proven experience as a QC Engineer or Quality Inspector in sheet metal fabrication or a similar manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes (cutting, bending, welding, etc.) and associated quality standards. Proficiency in preparing WPS and PQR for weld applications NDT level II qualification Proficiency in using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.) and reading technical drawings. Understanding of quality control standards and industry-specific codes (e.g., ISO, ASME, or ASTM). Familiarity with inspection and testing equipment, including CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines), hardness testers, and weld inspection tools. Experience with quality management systems and documentation (e.g., non-conformance reports, corrective actions). Strong attention to detail and a focus on precision. Knowledge of metal materials, finishes, and their properties. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze data. Effective communication skills for reporting and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Equivalent Diploma or a related field. Certifications in quality management (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or other relevant certifications). Experience with CAD software and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings. Knowledge of welding standards (e.g., AWS) is a plus. Preparation of WPS and PQR. Experience with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement techniques.
