Npd Engineer

Job Purpose:

Responsible for managing new product development activities for sheet metal components from concept to production — including tool development, PPAP documentation, supplier coordination, and ensuring timely delivery of quality products as per customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate

  New Product Development (NPD)

  projects for

  sheet metal components

  .
• Manage

  tool development activities

  (progressive, tandem, and transfer tools) in collaboration with tool design and manufacturing teams.
• Prepare, review, and maintain

  PPAP documentation

  and ensure submission as per customer standards.
• Conduct

  feasibility studies

  for new parts and support design reviews.
• Monitor

  tool trials, tryouts, and validation

  of parts to ensure dimensional and quality requirements are met.
• Coordinate with

  suppliers and toolmakers

  for tool manufacturing progress and ensure adherence to timelines.
• Work closely with

  quality, production, and purchase teams

  to resolve development and production-related issues.
• Support

  process development, APQP, and FMEA

  activities for new projects.
• Ensure compliance with

  customer specifications, drawings, and standards

  during development.
• Drive

  cost optimization and lead time reduction

  initiatives in tooling and product development.

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of

  sheet metal stamping tools

  (progressive, tandem, and transfer types).
• Good understanding of

  tool design, development, and manufacturing process

  .
• Hands-on experience with

  PPAP, APQP, FMEA, and documentation

  .
• Knowledge of

  material selection, GD&T, and automotive standards

  .
• Excellent

  communication and supplier follow-up skills

  .
• Ability to handle

  multiple projects

  and work in a cross-functional team environment.

Qualification & Experience:

• Qualification:

  Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Automobile Engineering

• Experience:

  2–6 years in NPD / Tool Development / Sheet Metal Component Development

• Industry Preference:

  Automotive / Sheet Metal / Tooling / Tier-1 Supplier
