Job Summary: The Engineering Playout Engineer is responsible for thetechnical operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of broadcast playoutsystems. This role ensures seamless transmission of audio/video content acrossmultiple channels and platforms, maintaining high availability and qualitystandards for broadcast delivery. Key Responsibilities: Operate, monitor, and maintain broadcast playout servers, automation systems, and related hardware/software. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to playout systems, signal flow, and transmission equipment. Coordinate with content and scheduling teams to ensure accurate and timely broadcast of programs. Perform regular system checks, updates, and preventive maintenance to avoid downtime. Collaborate with vendors and internal teams for system upgrades, installation, and integration. Maintain detailed logs and reports of system performance, incidents, and maintenance activities. Ensure compliance with industry standards and broadcast regulations. Support disaster recovery and backup procedures to safeguard broadcast continuity. Assist in designing and implementing improvements to playout workflows and infrastructure. Provide technical support during live broadcasts or special events. Train junior staff and operators on playout systems and best practices. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in engineering, Broadcast Technology, or a related field; relevant experience may be considered. Proven experience with broadcast playout systems (e.g., Imagine Communications, Grass Valley, Harmonic, Pebble Beach, Broadstream). Strong understanding of broadcast signal flow, video/audio encoding, and transmission protocols. Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware/software issues and networking concepts. Familiarity with automation software and media asset management systems. Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Willingness to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required. Preferred Skills: Knowledge of IP-based broadcast workflows and SMPTE standards. Experience with cloud-based playout and OTT platforms. Certification in broadcast engineering or related fields. Hands-on knowledge of monitoring and control systems (SNMP, NMS).
