News Anchor Job Description

CMI Times is looking for an enthusiastic news anchor to join our newsroom and assist in delivering important news-related content to the general public. As a news anchor, you will collaborate with reporters and other journalists to gather facts, broadcast news reports, interview guests, and cover breaking stories when needed. You will cover local, state, national, and international events, and will also be well-versed in breaking news developments. The ideal candidate can gather and anchor breaking news with high skill, passion, and professionalism.

Objectives of This Role

Conceptualize, present, and develop news segments

Select the most important, appropriate, and interesting news stories to broadcast based on areas of popular interest and audience demographics

Collaborate with newsroom staff to gather and record news content

Organize segments to ensure that the most interesting and timely pieces are presented first

Cover breaking news events as they occur, including natural disasters, fires, and crimes

Stay up to date on news developments to ensure the community is well-informed of current events

Responsibilities

Present live, scripted, pre-recorded, and breaking news reports, either in the studio or in the field

Research news and current events at the local, state, national, and international levels

Interview guests and other community members involved in stories

Introduce news reporters and other reporters reporting live on the scene, and ask them relevant questions

Write and revise scripts, provide commentary, and ensure late breaking news stories are added to the broadcast are

Adhere to journalistic ethics and standards, and ensure professional appearance, behavior and language is used throughout the broadcast

Skills and Qualifications

Proven media personality, ability to remain comfortable and professional in front of the camera

Excellent verbal communication skills

Comprehensive understanding of the news broadcast process

General knowledge of local, national and international affairs

Passion for breaking news and current events

Ability to improvise on camera when required

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience as a news anchor or broadcast reporter

Active social media presence

Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines

Ethical and professional research, writing and reporting skills

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Team player who works well collaboratively and independently

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
