This job is based in Australia. The Faculty of Engineering is currently seeking a Research Associate to join their team. As a Research Associate, you will be responsible for conducting independent and collaborative research in the field of Cognitive Robotics, Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, and Neuro-Symbolic Artificial Intelligence. This role provides an opportunity for you to enhance your expertise and contribute to scholarly research activities both nationally and internationally. Your responsibilities will include writing scientific papers and reports for international journals, participating in conferences and workshops, and engaging with industry partners. Reporting to Professor Maurice Pagnucco, Deputy Dean (Education) of the Faculty of Engineering, this position does not involve directly managing any reports. The salary for this role is at Level A, ranging from AUD$113,911 to $121,838 per annum, with an additional 17% superannuation. This is a full-time position on a fixed-term contract for 3 years, based in Kensington, Sydney, Australia. It is essential to demonstrate a proactive approach to staying updated with developments in the field, along with the ability to conduct high-quality academic research independently. A strong track record of publications and conference presentations is required, as well as the capacity to collaborate effectively within a team and across disciplines. Excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication abilities, and a commitment to UNSW's values and policies are also necessary.
