As a Soc Design Architect at AMD, you will play a crucial role in leading the development of high-end networking silicon. Your responsibilities will include driving the execution of SoCs in collaboration with IP, Subsystem, and Physical design teams, with a keen focus on Power, Performance, Area, schedule adherence, and cost management. This senior position will require you to lead the development of cutting-edge networking IP and silicon, overseeing milestones across various geographical locations. The ideal candidate for this role will possess exceptional communication and presentation skills, as evidenced by technical publications, presentations, trainings, and interactions with executive stakeholders. You should excel in addressing SOC design challenges, guiding teams towards meeting milestones, and leveraging your technical expertise to solve complex design issues. Key responsibilities of the Soc Design Architect include defining product features and capabilities, establishing architecture and micro-architecture requirements, driving technical specifications for SoC and IP blocks, ensuring alignment of HW, FW, BIOS, and SW components, collaborating with IP/Domain architects to resolve technical issues, contributing to Platform & System Architecture, and owning architecture analysis for marketing/feature change requests. Additionally, you will work closely with Design teams for Area and Floorplan refinement, Verification Test plan reviews, Timing targets, Emulation plans, Pre-Si bug resolution, and Performance/Power Verification sign-offs, while providing support to Post-Si teams for product performance and functional issue resolution. Preferred experience for this role includes a strong foundation in Systems & SoC architecture, expertise in areas such as CPU, Networking, Memory sub-system, Fabrics, Switches, Multimedia, I/O subsystems, Clocks, Resets, Virtualization, and Security. You should have experience in analyzing micro-architectural features to identify performance bottlenecks, expertise in power management microarchitecture, low power design, power optimization, and power impact assessment at various design levels. Effective communication, management, and collaboration skills, along with the ability to work across teams in different locations, are essential for success in this position. Academic credentials preferred for this role include a Bachelors or Masters degree in a related discipline.
