The role of this position involves interpreting technical inquiries from customers and designing cost-effective solutions for HVDC installations using power electronic solutions (PES). Your objective will be to minimize total costs and specify high-value bought-out equipment. You will be responsible for developing and industrializing solution tools and processes, showcasing your professional experience and technical expertise in power system engineering. Your responsibilities will include conducting various network studies to ensure correct interaction between equipment, control systems, and the network. This will involve tasks such as transient overvoltage studies, circuit current studies, transient stability studies, load flow studies, short circuit studies, and interaction studies. You will also be involved in harmonic analysis, power quality assessments, and designing filters for HVDC converter stations. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in developing new HVDC technologies, implementing control and protection solutions, and improving system study tools. Desired additional skills for this role include expertise in insulation coordination studies, calculating project losses, creating equipment specifications, and developing reliability and availability models. Your educational background should include an Engineering degree with a focus on power systems and power electronics, along with proven experience in HVDC System Design. Technical skills required for this position include proficiency in harmonic analysis, power system design, and knowledge of system tools like PSCAD, PSS/E, DigSilent, RTDS, and MATLAB. Familiarity with insulation coordination and HVDC equipment characteristics is desirable. Strong personal skills such as leadership, teamwork, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities are also essential. Your ability to mentor team members, work efficiently under deadlines, and maintain a structured approach to sharing knowledge and experience will be crucial. A self-motivated, results-driven approach with a focus on precise documentation and a "right first time" culture is expected.
