Network Patching

As a Network Patching Support Engineer with 7 to 11 years of experience, your role involves planning, executing, and validating network device patching across a global infrastructure. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the security, stability, and compliance of network devices by coordinating with multiple teams, following established change processes, and maintaining continuous service availability. Key Responsibilities: - Plan and execute scheduled patching activities for network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless controllers during approved maintenance windows. - Apply firmware, operating system, and security patches to ensure the security and efficiency of network devices. - Ensure proper sequencing and version control of applied updates to prevent configuration drift. - Perform pre-patch assessments and backup configurations to ensure rollback readiness. - Conduct post-patch health checks to verify system stability, connectivity, and service continuity. - Document patch outcomes, deviations, and lessons learned for continuous improvement. - Collaborate with IT Operations, Security, and Application teams to minimize downtime and user impact. - Adhere to established Change Advisory Board (CAB) and ITIL-based change management procedures. - Ensure all patch activities are properly logged, tracked, and closed in the change management system. - Analyze and resolve patch-related issues promptly to maintain system stability. - Initiate rollback or remediation plans when patches cause instability or service degradation. - Provide detailed incident and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports as required and coordinate with service providers and vendors when necessary.
