Your Role And Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and maintain Netezza / PureData systems in production and non-production environments.
- Perform daily health checks, capacity management, backup, and recovery operations.
- Manage and tune system performance, identify bottlenecks, and apply optimizations.
- Plan and execute software upgrades, patches, and firmware updates.
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
- Automate routine administrative tasks using shell scripting and other tools.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and data engineering teams for deployment and performance optimization.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation to support production systems.
- Maintain documentation for configurations, processes, and operational procedures.
- Support database migrations and integration projects involving multiple database platforms.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise
- Strong hands-on experience with IBM Netezza / PureData administration and troubleshooting.
- Proficient in Linux system administration and shell scripting (bash/ksh).
- Strong understanding of database concepts, performance tuning, and query optimization.
- Experience with backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery planning.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
- Experience in working in mission-critical 24/7 environments.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Technical And Professional Experience
- Exposure to other database technologies such as DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, etc.
- Knowledge of ETL tools (e.g., DataStage, Informatica) and data warehousing concepts.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana, Nagios, OEM, or similar).
- Experience in scripting or automation frameworks (Python, Ansible, etc.) is a plus.
