Job Description: Store Manager – Supermarket Position Title: Store Manager Department: Store Operations Reports to: Store Manager Location: Nearbymart Hypermarket , Kottayam Job Type: Full-time Job Summary: The Store Manager will assist the Store Manager in overseeing daily operations of the supermarket, ensuring efficient store management, excellent customer service, and achieving sales targets. This position involves supervising staff, handling inventory management, ensuring store cleanliness and safety, and supporting the implementation of marketing and promotional strategies. The Assistant Store Manager will also take charge of the store in the Store Manager’s absence. Key Responsibilities: Daily Store Operations: Assist the Store Manager in overseeing daily store activities to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction. Manage the store’s opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and security. Ensure the store is fully stocked, well-organized, and operating at optimal efficiency. Staff Management and Supervision: Supervise, train, and motivate store employees to provide exceptional customer service. Assist in scheduling shifts, ensuring proper staffing levels during peak hours and special promotions. Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement training to improve employee performance. Address employee concerns or issues in a timely and professional manner. Customer Service and Satisfaction: Ensure the store delivers excellent customer service by helping resolve customer complaints or issues. Promote a customer-first mentality, leading by example and encouraging staff to engage with customers in a friendly and helpful manner. Monitor and improve customer satisfaction through feedback, surveys, or other means. Inventory and Merchandising: Assist in inventory management, ensuring accurate stock levels and timely replenishment of products. Oversee the organization and presentation of store shelves, displays, and promotional sections to maximize sales. Conduct regular stock audits and ensure products are properly tagged and priced. Sales and Profitability: Support the Store Manager in achieving sales and profitability goals by implementing effective sales strategies and promotions. Monitor sales figures and identify opportunities to increase sales, reduce costs, and improve operational efficiency. Help implement seasonal or promotional sales events and ensure that they are executed successfully. Health, Safety, and Compliance: Ensure that the store complies with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations. Oversee product handling and storage to ensure safe and proper practices. Ensure that all safety and security protocols are followed, including monitoring CCTV, alarm systems, and cash handling procedures. Store Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe store environment, including overseeing the upkeep of aisles, bathrooms, and customer service areas. Ensure that the store is visually appealing and aligns with company standards for merchandising and layout. Reporting and Communication: Assist the Store Manager with administrative duties, including reporting sales data, employee performance, and operational issues. Communicate regularly with store management and employees to ensure goals and expectations are clear. Provide regular updates to the Store Manager on store performance, inventory issues, and customer feedback. Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Take initiative to resolve store-related issues such as customer complaints, operational problems, or staffing shortages. Make decisions on behalf of the Store Manager during their absence, ensuring that the store operates efficiently and customer needs are met. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, or related field is a plus). 2+ years of retail or supermarket management experience, with a proven ability to lead and motivate a team. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks and make decisions in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of retail operations, including inventory management, merchandising, and customer service. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and retail management software (POS systems, inventory systems). Preferred Skills: Experience with cash management, scheduling, and employee training. Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a retail setting. Bilingual or multilingual skills (depending on the customer base). Working Conditions: Full-time position, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on store hours. Ability to lift and carry products (up to [X] pounds). Standing for extended periods and walking around the store.
