Job Title: Production & QA Manager Job Summary: The Biofertilizer Formulation Specialist will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and validating biofertilizer formulations using microbial strains such as Rhizobium, Azospirillum, Azotobacter, PSB, KSB, and others. The role involves ensuring product stability, viability, and compliance with regulatory standards for agricultural use. Key Responsibilities: 1. Formulation Development Design and optimize carrier-based formulations. Evaluate compatibility and synergistic effects of multiple microbial strains. Select and test suitable carriers (peat, lignite, charcoal, etc.) and additives. 2. Microbial Culture Handling Cultivate, maintain, and scale up microbial cultures. Monitor microbial viability, spore count, and CFU levels during and after formulation. 3. Stability & Shelf-life Studies Conduct studies to determine product shelf life and storage conditions. Assess formulation performance under different climatic conditions. 4. Quality Assurance Establish quality control protocols for raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods. Ensure microbial count meets FCO standards. 5. Regulatory Compliance Prepare technical dossiers for certification and registration under FCO or other relevant authorities. Ensure compliance with national and international biofertilizer regulations. 6. Documentation & Reporting Maintain records of formulation procedures, test results, and batch data. Generate technical reports, SOPs, and safety data sheets (SDS). Qualifications & Skills: MSc/MTech in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Agricultural Sciences, or related field. 2-3 years of experience in biofertilizer formulation (liquid and/or carrier-based). Strong knowledge of microbial fermentation, media optimization, and microbial ecology. Experience in using lab instruments: autoclave, incubator, laminar hood, centrifuge, etc. Familiarity with FCO standards and certification processes. Strong documentation, communication, and project management skills. Preferred Attributes: Experience with consortia formulation or customized solutions for specific crops/soils. Exposure to pilot plant or industrial-scale production. Knowledge of biostimulants and integrated nutrient management is a plus.
