As an IB school, we are committed to providing a comprehensive, inquiry-based curriculum that prepares students for a globalized world. **Position Overview** The PYP Teacher at Riverdale World School will be a key leader in developing, implementing, and managing the Primary Years Program (PYP) in alignment with IB standards and best practices. The coordinator will work closely with teachers, students, and parents to create a collaborative, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for our youngest learners (ages 3-12). This individual will also serve as a liaison between the school, the IB organization, and the wider educational community. **Key Responsibilities** **Curriculum Development & Implementation:** - Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of the PYP curriculum, ensuring it adheres to IB principles and reflects the mission and values of Riverdale World School. - Collaborate with PYP teachers to plan, develop, and review transdisciplinary units of inquiry that engage students and promote critical thinking. - Foster a culture of inquiry-based learning, emphasizing student-led investigation, reflection, and action. - Ensure the alignment of curriculum goals with assessment standards and IB guidelines. **Leadership & Teacher Support:** - Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to the PYP teaching team to ensure high standards of teaching and learning. - Coordinate and facilitate regular team meetings, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among teachers. - Promote ongoing reflection and self-assessment among the faculty to enhance teaching practices and student outcomes. - Support new staff members in understanding and implementing the PYP framework effectively. **Assessment & Student Learning:** - Support teachers in the assessment and reporting processes, including formative and summative assessments that reflect the IB philosophy. - Ensure regular monitoring of student progress and development through the use of appropriate assessments, including PYP exhibitions, portfolios, and other IB tools. - Lead the planning and facilitation of PYP exhibitions for Grade 5 students, ensuring alignment with the IB Learner Profile and Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills. **Parental & Community Engagement:** - Build strong partnerships with parents to support student learning and development, providing guidance on the PYP approach to education. - Organize parent workshops, information sessions, and events to keep parents informed about the PYP framework and their child's progress. - Actively engage with the wider community, including local and international networks, to promote the school's values and the IB philosophy. **IB Accreditation & Compliance:** - Ensure the school maintains its PYP authorization status, working closely with the IB organization and external evaluators. - Stay up-to-date with IB updates, policies, and best practices, ensuring that the school remains compliant with IB requirements. - Facilitate the internal self-study process and the preparation for external evaluations. **School Leadership Team Participation:** - Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and other coordinators to ensure the smooth operation of the school. - Contribute to the development of the schools annual strategic plans and long-term educational goals. - Participate in school events, leadership meetings, and decision-making processes. **Required Qualifications and Skills:** - A degree in Education (preferably with a specialization in Primary Education). - IB PYP teaching experience and, ideally, a PYP coordinator certification or training. - A deep understanding of the IB PYP framework, including inquiry-based learning, assessment strategies, and the IB Learner Profile. - Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and mentoring a diverse team of educators. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and staff. - Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to the needs of a growing school. - Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. - Proficiency in using technology for educational purposes. **Desired Attributes:** - Passion for fostering a nurturing and supportive learning environment. - Creative and innovative thinking to enhance the curriculum and teaching practices. - Strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development. - Ability to inspire and motivate others towards a shared vision of educational excellence. - Fluency in English; proficiency in Hindi or other regional languages is a plus.
