Role Overview: As a member of the Postgres Database Team at Apple, you will be responsible for the design, configuration, and maintenance of a fleet of Postgres databases under Data Services. Your role will involve interacting with application teams to understand their requirements and providing optimal database solutions. The Postgres databases are deployed across baremetal, AWS, and Kubernetes, and you will be part of Apple's Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) division. Key Responsibilities: - Support Postgres databases in a high-volume customer-facing environment for 5-15 years - Demonstrate in-depth understanding of PostgreSQL architecture - Set up, configure, upgrade/patch, monitor, and troubleshoot database infrastructure - Provide detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for outages - Understand MVCC and its handling in Postgres - Perform database upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime - Configure HA for High Availability and Disaster Recovery - Configure and support replication (logical/physical/active-active) - Optimize and tune Postgres performance including drill-down analysis - Measure and optimize system performance, conduct capacity planning, and manage forecasts - Provide database architecture and design solutions - Implement PostgreSQL security best practices - Implement standard backup methodologies (pg_dump/restore, online backup, incremental backup) - Thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines - Participate in technology evaluation, design, and development of scalable distributed databases - Conduct performance benchmarking using pgbench or other open-source tools - Manage databases deployed in Cloud Infrastructure including AWS/GCP and Kubernetes Qualifications Required: - Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) preferred - AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate preferred - Python knowledge is a plus Please submit your CV to apply for this exciting opportunity at Apple.,
