Role overview Dhruva Space is seeking a CAE Engineer to support the design, analysis, and optimization of spacecraft structures and mechanisms through advanced simulation techniques. This role demands a strong foundation in mechanical principles, finite element analysis (FEA), and multidisciplinary collaboration. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in structural, thermal, and dynamic simulations, with prior experience in aerospace, space, or defense sectors preferred. Key responsibilities Perform advanced structural and dynamic simulations for spacecraft components to ensure compliance with mission requirements, safety margins, and applicable standards. Collaborate with design engineers to optimize CAD models for simulation and manufacturability, ensuring the seamless integration of simulation insights into the product development workflow. Development of reduced models or super elements, familiarity with various FEA formats, and deck preparation. Develop finite element models of composite components and structures using Hypermesh. Develop and execute test plans for validation of simulation predictions, including environmental testing (vibration, thermal, shock) and functional assessments. Correlate results with simulations to refine model accuracy. Conduct optimization studies to minimize weight while maintaining structural integrity, and perform risk assessments to identify potential failure modes and propose mitigation strategies. Act as a bridge between design, manufacturing, and testing teams to ensure alignment between simulated results and real-world performance. Provide technical support during manufacturing, assembly, and testing phases. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality simulation outputs within defined budgets and timelines. Stay current with emerging CAE technologies such as AI-driven optimization and reduced-order modeling to improve simulation efficiency and effectiveness. Candidate requirements Do you have a Bachelor&aposs or Master&aposs degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related engineering field Do you have a minimum of 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in Finite Element Modeling (FEM) Strong grasp of mechanics: statics, dynamics, kinematics, and heat transfer. Proficiency in FEA tools: ANSYS, HyperMesh (latest GUI is preferred). Experience with high-fidelity simulation models and interpreting critical results (stress, thermal, failure points). Hands-on with modal, harmonic, transient, and multiphysics simulations (thermal-structural, FSI). Knowledge of topology optimization and CAE-based design validation. Background in aerospace/space/defense; familiarity with spacecraft design standards and environmental testing. Collaborative mindset; ability to work across design, manufacturing, and testing teams. Strong technical reporting and presentation skills. Analytical thinking with problem-solving and risk assessment capabilities. Adaptable, quick to learn new tools and workflows. Understanding of materials (metals, composites) and manufacturing processes (additive, machining). Show more Show less
