As a Senior Automation Engineer at ABB, you will play a crucial role in acting as a design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Your daily tasks will involve completing assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects in a cost-effective manner while applying basic design thinking/design for excellence concepts. Your work will contribute to the Robotics & Discrete Automation in Thane. You will be primarily responsible for understanding Industrial Automation Products such as PLC, HMI, VFD, and Motion Controller. Your duties will include application development and support for machines at OEM, maintaining active communication channels with the Reporting Manager, sales team, customers, and the team until the completion of applications. Additionally, you will support sales with technical presentations and discussions, follow coding standards and guidelines, and handle activities like project development, incremental modifications for series machines, machine breakdown support, and customer training. In this role, you will escalate issues, hurdles, and critical points within defined timelines, providing regular reports, briefings, and reviews as required. It is essential to interact periodically with customers to ensure smooth workflow, document minutes of meetings, and ensure timely and effective work closure. Furthermore, you will plan for periodic technical upgrades, promote organizational culture among the team, improve individual skills based on business growth needs, and contribute to growing indirect sales of B&R's solutions and services in the region. Teamwork is crucial for success in this role, requiring full coordination with other teams from specifications to project closure while maintaining and protecting B&R/customer IP. To qualify for this role, you should hold a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering. Ideally, you should have 4 to 6 years of application development and support experience within the Indian business environment, preferably in multinational companies. A well-developed understanding of Industrial Automation systems like PLCs, motors, drives, motion control, and robotic systems is required. Knowledge of the Industrial IoT market requirements is preferred. Effective networking skills in a multicultural setting, excellent communication and negotiating abilities, and fluency in English and Hindi (oral and written) are essential. Flexibility to travel up to 60% is also necessary.
