Oversee daily mining activities, including excavation, processing, and transportation of sand. Ensure efficient utilization of machinery and manpower to meet production targets. Monitor and optimize operational processes to reduce downtime and increase output. Enforce strict adherence to health and safety standards (e.g., PPE use, site inspections, hazard mitigation). Ensure compliance with environmental and mining regulations, including local, state, and national laws. Maintain proper documentation for permits, licenses, and regulatory audits. Manage the maintenance and availability of mining equipment such as dredgers, loaders, and conveyors. Plan for procurement and inventory of spare parts, fuel, and consumables. Monitor resource usage to prevent wastage and reduce operational costs. Supervise site workers, machine operators, and other operational staff. Schedule shifts and allocate tasks to ensure continuous production. Implement training programs for skill development and safety awareness. Coordinate with transporters for sand delivery to customers or storage sites. Manage loading/unloading operations to minimize turnaround time. Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to ensure timely supply. Develop and monitor operational budgets for equipment, labor, and other overheads. Analyze cost reports and implement measures for cost reduction. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production cost per ton, yield, and machine efficiency. Implement sustainable mining practices to minimize ecological impact. Manage dust control, water usage, and land rehabilitation efforts. Engage with local communities and address concerns related to mining operations. Generate regular reports on production, safety, maintenance, and financials. Maintain logs for incidents, equipment performance, and environmental monitoring. Report key issues and performance metrics to senior management. Identify opportunities for expansion, process improvement, and cost-saving. Plan for new mining areas, including surveys, feasibility studies, and land acquisition. Keep up to date with industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory changes. Job Summary: We are seeking an Assistant Safety Engineer to support the health and safety department on construction projects. In this role, you will assist in implementing and monitoring safety programs and policies, conducting site safety inspections, and ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations. You will work closely with the Safety Manager and site personnel to identify potential hazards, prevent accidents, and promote a safe working environment on construction sites. Key Responsibilities: Safety Inspections & Audits: Assist in conducting regular safety inspections of construction sites to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, or non-compliance with safety regulations. Report safety deficiencies and collaborate with site supervisors and the safety team to ensure corrective actions are taken promptly. Ensure that safety equipment is regularly inspected, maintained, and in good working condition. Safety Training & Awareness: Assist in organizing and conducting safety training sessions for workers, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe operation of tools, machinery, and site-specific safety protocols. Help prepare safety induction materials for new workers and subcontractors. Promote safety awareness through daily briefings, toolbox talks, and safety meetings. Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment: Support in performing job hazard analysis (JHA) and risk assessments for various construction tasks and projects. Assist in the identification and elimination of potential risks associated with construction activities. Accident Reporting & Investigation: Help investigate workplace accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions by gathering evidence, conducting interviews, and reporting findings. Assist in preparing incident reports and ensuring that corrective measures are implemented to prevent recurrence. Safety Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records, including safety meeting minutes, inspections, incident reports, and training logs. Assist the Safety Manager in preparing regular safety performance reports and documentation required for regulatory compliance and auditing. Support the preparation and review of safety plans for specific projects, ensuring they meet local regulations and company safety standards. Compliance & Regulatory Assistance: Ensure that safety policies and procedures align with local health and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, MSHA, or equivalent standards). Support the safety team in ensuring compliance with environmental and construction safety regulations during project execution. Assist in conducting safety audits to ensure compliance with internal safety programs and external regulatory requirements. Emergency Preparedness & Response: Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and first aid measures. Ensure emergency equipment, such as fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and emergency signage, is available and in good condition. Assist in organizing and conducting emergency drills (e.g., fire drills, evacuation drills). Promoting Safety Culture: Support the safety team in fostering a strong safety culture across all levels of the workforce. Encourage workers to report hazards, near misses, and unsafe behavior in a timely manner. Help promote a zero-accident mindset and maintain positive working relationships with the site team to ensure safety protocols are followed. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (or equivalent) is a plus. Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a construction or safety-related role (internships, co-op, or prior assistant safety experience is a plus). Familiarity with construction processes, safety standards, and health and safety regulations. Skills: Basic knowledge of construction safety practices, hazard identification, and risk assessment techniques. Familiarity with safety management tools and software (e.g., safety audit tools, incident reporting systems) is an advantage. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify and address safety hazards effectively. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and documentation. Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proactive attitude toward safety issues and problem-solving. Ability to work in a fast-paced and potentially hazardous construction environment.
