Job Title: Assistant Manager Mold Development Department: Molding / Tooling / Product Development Location: Ahmedabad Experience Required: 1012 years Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and technically skilled Assistant Manager – Mold Development to oversee injection and blow molding tool development, vendor coordination, mold maintenance, and support for new product development. The role demands strong project management, vendor evaluation, and shop floor execution skills. Key Responsibilities: Mold Development & Project Execution Evaluate manufacturing feasibility and define project timelines. Review mold/tool design drawings and provide functional input. Analyze machine and mold compatibility, material behavior, and design for manufacturability. Drive T0, T1, T2 trial schedules and obtain R&D and cost approvals. Vendor Management & Technical Evaluation Select and coordinate with toolmakers/vendors. Provide technical specifications and approve tooling stages. Evaluate part design for flow, stress, cooling, venting, etc. Process Validation & Quality Control Conduct mold trials and validate production quality. Use DFMEA to assess and mitigate design risks. Troubleshoot complex tooling issues with root cause analysis. Mold Maintenance Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance of molds. Maintain mold numbering, tracking, and shipment documentation. Cost Management Analyze material selection and design to ensure cost efficiency. Review prototype deviations and control cost variances. Coordinate with purchase for cost-effective tooling procurement. Documentation & Team Development Maintain detailed reports on DFMEA, trial runs, and approvals. Mentor the technical team on mold/process knowledge. Conduct performance reviews and foster team growth. Key Skills & Competencies: Mold Development and Maintenance Injection Molding / Blow Molding / Extrusion Blow Molding Tool & Mold Design (Core-Cavity, Cooling, Gating, etc.) DFMEA, Root Cause Analysis, Trial Validation Plastic Material Knowledge Vendor & Project Management Proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) ERP system knowledge Strong communication and leadership skills Educational Qualifications: Preferred Institutes: CIPET / NTTF
