Your Opportunity

As a Model Compression Engineer on BeGig, you’ll work on freelance projects focused on reducing the size, latency, and compute requirements of machine learning models—while maintaining accuracy. You’ll collaborate with teams deploying models to edge devices, mobile platforms, or cost-efficient production environments—without the constraints of a traditional full-time role.

What You’ll Do

• Apply model compression techniques such as

  quantization, pruning, and knowledge distillation

• Optimize ML models for

  low latency, memory efficiency, and reduced compute cost

• Convert and deploy compressed models using

  ONNX, TensorRT, TFLite, or OpenVINO

• Benchmark and evaluate performance vs. accuracy trade-offs
• Optimize models for deployment on

  edge, mobile, or cloud environments

• Collaborate with ML and engineering teams to integrate compressed models into production
• Debug and resolve performance bottlenecks
• Deliver reliable, production-ready optimized models

What We’re Looking For

• Strong hands-on experience in

  model optimization and compression

• Proficiency in

  Python

  and ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
• Experience with deployment and inference frameworks (ONNX Runtime, TensorRT, TFLite, OpenVINO)
• Solid understanding of model architectures, inference pipelines, and hardware constraints
• Experience working with edge or resource-constrained environments is a plus
• A self-driven freelancer who can independently own and deliver technical work
