Job Description Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Reliability Consulting Engineer with a strong background in protection and control systems, energy management devices, and utility-scale software for transmission and distribution (T&D) applications. In this role, you will lead reliability initiatives across the lifecycle of critical grid automation products, including protection relays, control devices, digital substation solutions, and advanced software platforms. You will apply best-in-class reliability engineering methodologies to ensure system resilience, regulatory compliance, and long-term field performance. Your work will directly support utility customers in achieving higher uptime, reduced lifecycle costs, and safer grid operation. Job Description Key Responsibilities Perform reliability modeling and statistical analysis of energy management and protection/control products to predict field performance and act as authority for reliability design decisions. Develop and execute reliability test plans for hardware and software, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), environmental, and stress testing for grid components. Conduct and lead FMEA, FMECA, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for hardware/software failure events across embedded systems and communication layers. Work with product design, systems engineering, and software teams to ensure Design for Reliability (DfR) is embedded from concept through deployment. Analyze field data from deployed devices (e.g., relays, RTUs, control systems) to identify systemic issues and recommend corrective/preventive actions. Collaborate with utilities and customers to support grid asset performance programs and grid modernization initiatives, including IEC 61850, virtualization, and advanced diagnostics. Develop and maintain reliability KPIs (e.g., MTBF, FIT rate, availability) for product lines and integrate into product development and quality programs. Identify and drive adoption of predictive and condition-based maintenance strategies using remote diagnostics, SCADA, and sensor data. Consult and align with the Innovation Office and Applications team to ensure reliability priorities influence working group participation, standards leadership, and technology strategy. Stay current on regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., NERC, IEEE, IEC standards) impacting utility asset reliability and cybersecurity. Provide coaching, training, and guidance on reliability practices to internal teams and external stakeholders. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline. Minimum of 7 years of experience in reliability, systems, or product engineering in the energy or utility sector. Black Belt certification required, external certification from an approved training program preferred; Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred. Solid skills in data collection, aptitude for math and statistical concepts (formal class work in basic statistics preferred). Proficiency in statistical software preferred (e.g. Minitab, SPSS). Good experience in leading workshops/sessions on VSM and FMEA type of activities to identify process improvement opportunities. Confident in leading Lean/Six Sigma training sessions independently on a periodic basis. Must have the knack of logical reasoning while identifying high impact process improvement initiatives and take them to closure and ensure continuous improvement by taking E2E ownership. Attention to detail, including listening skills. Demonstrated formal/informal leadership skills with track record of results driven attitude through project management. Outstanding communication skills both verbal and written and ability to interact with and present to C-level executives and board members. Key Responsibilities Lead the Application Engineering activities include injector sizing, compliance matrix and Validation of Port Fuel Injectors for Gasoline and CNG . Design, develop and customize product suitable for market condition. Develop and execute Design Verification Plans & Reports and coordinate testing with global tech centers. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (calibration, simulation, manufacturing, quality) to ensure product and process alignment. Interface with OEM customers to understand technical requirements, present design solutions, and support application engineering activities. Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for field, bench, and production issues. Support supplier development and validation of critical injector components. Contribute to the advancement technologies as part of the long-term innovation roadmap. What we’re looking for 5-8 years of experience in fuel injectors, preferably with both Gasoline and CNG applications. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / electrical / Mechatronics Engineering or a related field. Proven track record in leading injector development projects from concept through SOP. Hands-on experience in injector testing: flow characterization, spray analysis, leak testing, and endurance testing. Proficient in DFMEA, GD&T and tolerance stack up analysis is required. Exposure to OEM programs, validation cycles, and launch support is preferred. Strong understanding of Injector design principles, standards, material selection & fuel compact ability, Basic understanding of engine calibration, ECU signals and control strategies. Problem solving skills and approach like DFSS, Robust Engineering and Shainin methodology and data analysis skills in the following software like Minitab/Statgraphics is preferable.
