Job Description: To lead and manage the tool room operations for manufacturing, maintenance, and improvement of mould bases and tooling components, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and adherence to technical specifications. Key Responsibilities: Manage day-to-day activities of the tool room, ensuring smooth operation and workflow. Plan and allocate jobs for toolmakers, machinists, and fitters as per production schedules. Supervise the manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance of mould bases, inserts, and components. Ensure the proper use and maintenance of tool room machines such as: Milling Machines (Conventional & CNC) Surface Grinder EDM, Wire Cut Machines Lathe Machines VMC / CNC Machines Drilling Machines Read and interpret engineering drawings and tool designs accurately. Implement quality checks at each stage of machining and assembly. Coordinate with the QC team to resolve quality issues. Control inventory of raw materials, tools, and consumables for the tool room. Manage preventive maintenance schedules of all tool room equipment. Guide and train the tool room team to improve their technical skills. Ensure compliance with safety and housekeeping standards. Liaise with the design team for technical feasibility and tooling improvements. Drive continuous improvements in tooling processes to increase efficiency and reduce lead times. Required Skills & Knowledge: Strong technical knowledge of mould base manufacturing. Hands-on experience in precision machining processes. Proficient in reading technical drawings and tolerances. Knowledge of tool steels, machining parameters, and heat treatment processes. Familiarity with measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Bore Gauge, Height Gauge, Dial Indicators, etc. Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Leadership and team management abilities. Basic understanding of CAD/CAM software is preferred.
