Welding Operations: Perform MIG welding on various metal types (e.g., mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum) and thicknesses, ensuring strong and clean welds. Read and accurately interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and welding symbols to determine specifications and welding procedures. Set up and operate MIG welding equipment, including adjusting wire feed speed, voltage, and gas flow for optimal performance. Position and secure parts using clamps, jigs, and fixtures to ensure proper alignment before welding. Inspect completed welds for defects such as cracks, porosity, and inadequate penetration, and perform necessary reworks to meet quality standards. Material Handling & Preparation: Prepare welding surfaces by grinding, cleaning, and deburring to ensure proper adhesion and weld quality. Select appropriate welding consumables (e.g., welding wire, shielding gas) based on material specifications and project requirements. Handle and move materials safely within the workstation or shop floor. Safety & Maintenance: Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times (welding helmet, gloves, safety glasses, fire-resistant clothing). Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition, performing routine checks and minor troubleshooting. Ensure a clean and organized work area to prevent hazards. Quality Control & Documentation: Conduct self-inspection of welds to ensure they meet specified quality and dimensional requirements. Report any issues with materials, equipment, or processes to the supervisor. Complete daily production and quality logs as required. Team Collaboration: Work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with other welders, fabricators, and production staff to meet deadlines and production goals. Provide assistance and support to colleagues as needed.
