This position requires understanding and integrating multiple fossil group data to interpret the age and environment of deposition. You will be responsible for synthesizing biostratigraphic data with seismic data to build basin scale or sub-basin scale stratigraphic framework. It is crucial to interact and provide biostratigraphic inputs to relevant stakeholders. As a member of the exploration team, you should be adept at working in a collaborative environment and delivering geoscientific analysis to other business units/operational assets. A deep understanding of microfossil/nannofossils/palynology is required for this role. You will be expected to prepare biostratigraphic analysis schemes for various microfossil groups and perform quality control of biostratigraphic reports prepared by external vendors. Providing biostratigraphic inputs for wells/seismic stratigraphic correlations and conducting real-time biostratigraphic analysis to offer prompt inputs to well drilling decisions are also key responsibilities. In terms of skills and competencies, you should possess a thorough understanding of multiple fossil groups, including foraminifera, nannofossils, and palynofossils. Your expertise should lie in interpreting the age and environment of deposition using various fossil groups and identifying common fossil groups under a microscope. Proficiency in planktonic foraminifer taxonomy, benthic foraminifer ecology, and calcareous nannofossil taxonomy is essential. You should be skilled at analyzing diverse samples (well cuttings, cores, outcrops, residue, thin sections) using microscopy as a core part of your daily routine with a proven track record of high productivity. Furthermore, the ability to integrate biostratigraphy data with sedimentology, geochemistry, seismic, and tectonic data is crucial. Experience working with software like Stratabug and Coreldraw is preferred, along with desired knowledge in Sequence Stratigraphy and Chemostratigraphy. Being a collaborative, self-motivated, and flexible team player is key to succeeding in this role. The minimum educational requirement for this position is a Master's degree in Geology with specialization in micropaleontology/biostratigraphy. A PhD in micropaleontology/biostratigraphy with proven research experience in the field is preferable. Candidates should have more than 5 years of experience in micropaleontology/biostratigraphy in the Exploration and Production (E&P) industry.,
