You will be working as a Scientist in the field of synthetic biology and Microbial Genetics at TekWissen, a global workforce management provider. Your primary responsibility will involve working with laboratory strains of Escherichia coli, fungi, yeast, etc. using aseptic techniques for culturing, maintenance, and transformation. Additionally, you will be expected to conduct advanced molecular biology techniques such as recombinant cloning, assembling, genome editing, and recombinant knockouts. One of your key tasks will be to perform genome editing of micro-organisms to enhance phenotype and heterologous production of recombinant molecules. You will also be involved in fermentation studies to assess yields and scale up studies for recombinant strains. Designing, implementing, and characterizing novel gene constructs will be part of your role, along with metabolic engineering of recombinant strains and analyzing flux. To excel in this position, you will need to hold an M.Sc./Ph.D. in molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology, synthetic biology, or a related field. A minimum of 2 years of postdoctoral experience in academic, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industry settings, working with different recombinant platforms for the production of novel molecules like flavors and fragrances is essential. Experience in metabolic pathways engineering of Yeast and bacterial systems using advanced molecular biology tools will be beneficial. You should have a strong understanding of fundamental molecular biology techniques and exposure to gene circuit design, cell engineering, and strain development would be highly desirable. Effective communication and presentation skills are crucial to convey technical information clearly and thoroughly to stakeholders. The ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and technical environment, along with a passion for making a positive impact in the world will be key to succeeding in this role.
