Description
As a Materials Engineer at Chevron ENGINE, you will play a crucial role in providing materials and corrosion engineering support to Chevron's Refining and LNG assets. Your responsibilities will include supporting materials selection, damage mechanism reviews, corrosion monitoring and control programs, failure analysis, interpretation of inspection data, welding and fabrication guidance, mechanical design review, and equipment repair for complex process facilities. Key responsibilities: - Support the execution of fixed equipment asset strategies across Chevron's complex process facilities - Participate in the Management of Change process and provide support for facilities turnaround planning/execution scope related to material evaluations - Conduct fitness for service assessments for mechanical equipment in accordance with API codes and standards, and provide support for Root Cause Investigations and other equipment incidents - Collaborate with cross-functional teams including inspections, technical, operations, and maintenance - Maintain open communication between Reliability group, Process and Design Engineering, Operations, and Project Services - Assist in planning and developing engineering work packages for plant turnarounds and capital projects - Support and update plant corrosion/Damage Mechanism Reviews, Metallurgical Reviews, and Risk-Based Inspection plans - Develop and review technical specifications related to materials and corrosion - Mentor inspectors, engineers, and others in materials technologies such as materials selection, welding and fabrication, and corrosion control - Provide guidance on maintenance scope tasks including weld procedures reviews, post-weld heat treat, hydrogen bake-out, welding applications, and PMI testing reviews - Offer technical oversight and second-level review of inspection findings, asset strategy adjustments, and interpretation of inspection data Required qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in materials engineering/sciences from a recognized university - Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials and corrosion engineering - Industry experience in supporting asset integrity or materials engineering practices within a complex oil and gas operating environment is preferred - Knowledge of refinery and LNG process technologies will be highly regarded Chevron ENGINE supports global operations and aligns work hours to support business requirements. The standard work week is Monday to Friday, with working hours from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1:30pm to 10:30pm. Please note that Chevron participates in E-Verify in certain locations as required by law.,
