MEP Engineer - Residential Electrical & Plumbing

Role & responsibilities

Experience:

MEP Engineer (Residential Electrical & Plumbing)

1. Design & Planning

• Develop and review

  electrical and plumbing layouts

  for residential buildings (villas, apartments, complexes).
• Prepare

  load calculations

  ,

  circuit schedules

  , and

  single-line diagrams (SLD)

  for electrical systems.
• Design plumbing systems including

  water supply

  ,

  drainage

  ,

  stormwater

  , and

  venting systems

  .
• Select appropriate materials, fixtures, cables, conduits, pumps, and control devices based on project requirements and standards.
• Coordinate with architects and civil engineers to ensure space planning for MEP utilities.

2. Codes, Standards & Compliance

• Ensure electrical and plumbing designs comply with local

  building codes

  ,

  authority regulations

  , and

  safety standards

• Conduct design reviews to ensure compliance with NEC, IEC, IPC, local water authority, and fire safety standards.
• Prepare documentation/drawings required for

  approval from statutory authorities

3. Project Execution & Site Supervision

• Supervise installation of

  wiring, conduits, DBs, lighting fixtures, earthing systems

  , and

  small power systems

  .
• Oversee plumbing installations:

  piping networks (PVC/PEX/CPVC), pumps, water heaters, sanitary fixtures, and drainage systems

  .
• Review and approve contractor work to ensure it matches drawings, specifications, and safety guidelines.
• Coordinate daily with subcontractors, electricians, plumbers, and site supervisors.

4. Testing, Commissioning & Quality Control

• Conduct

  inspections

  ,

  continuity tests

  ,

  insulation resistance tests

  , and

  functionality checks

  of electrical installations.
• Test plumbing systems for

  leakage, pressure

  , and proper flow characteristics.
• Prepare snag lists and ensure corrective actions before project handover.
• Maintain quality control on materials and workmanship.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare

  BOQs

  , technical specifications, method statements, and shop drawings.
• Maintain detailed project progress reports, inspection reports, and as-built drawings.
• Assist in preparing cost estimates and budget planning for MEP scopes.

6. Coordination & Communication

• Work closely with architects, civil teams, and HVAC engineers to eliminate clashes in MEP services.
• Resolve site issues by coordinating with consultants and contractors.
• Participate in design meetings, progress meetings, and site coordination meetings.

7. Safety & Risk Management

• Ensure all electrical and plumbing works follow

  safety protocols

• Identify potential risks (e.g., overloading, water leakage points) and propose solutions.
• Implement proper

8. Operation, Maintenance & Support (if applicable)
