Job Description

Medical Scribe

This role requires strong attention to detail, proficiency in medical terminology, and the ability to work collaboratively in a clinical documentation environment. Candidates passionate about healthcare, quick learners, and those keen to grow in the medical field are ideal for this role.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  1. Provide real-time scribing of patient charts, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  2. Prepare and update e-prescriptions as directed by the provider.
  3. Review and verify the accuracy of patient progress notes; make necessary corrections.
  4. Manage patient appointment scheduling during incoming/outgoing calls.
  5. Maintain clear communication with patients regarding reminders, schedules, follow-ups, and inquiries.
  6. Handle incoming and outgoing patient referrals over calls.
  7. Support backend operations, including handling faxes, prior authorizations, lab reports, and chart preparation.
  8. Assign and encode billing codes as per insurance guidelines.
  9. Accurately document all procedures performed in patient progress notes.
  10. Review posted results and identify/report discrepancies.
  11. Assist providers with chart completion in the absence of an in-person scribe.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

  • Experience in a medical office, clinical setting, or healthcare documentation role.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and medical summarization.
  • Excellent English writing skills with advanced grammar and spelling proficiency.
  • Effective listening skills; ability to understand diverse accents of physicians and patients.
  • Ability to work independently in a secure, private location with a reliable high-speed internet connection.
  • Ability to participate in video training sessions with screen sharing.

Key Competencies:

  1. Must be a Nurse/Nursing Graduate or possess a medical degree with clinical experience.
  2. High proficiency in English (US accent is an added advantage).
  3. Experience with EHR/EMR software preferred.
  4. Minimum typing speed of 50 WPM with high accuracy.
  5. Proficiency in MS Office and quick adaptability to new systems/tools.
