Medical Records Technician (MRT)

Key job responsibilities include:

• Compiling, processing, and maintaining patient records consistent with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards.

• Updating patient files with information such as diagnoses, treatments, prescriptions, and personal details after each visit.

• Coding medical information for diagnosis, procedures, and billing using standardized healthcare coding systems.

• Storing records securely, maintaining confidentiality, and safeguarding data from unauthorized access.

• Retrieving, releasing, and distributing patient records only to authorized individuals or entities.

• Working with healthcare professionals to clarify, verify, or obtain patient information as needed.

• Maintaining the accuracy, accessibility, and completeness of records in both paper and electronic systems.

• Complying with statutory and medico-legal requirements regarding health information management.

• Generating and preparing statistical reports as requested for administrative or legal purposes.
