About the Role

CIC Certified Medical Billing Coder

Key Responsibilities

Review inpatient medical records and assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes in compliance with
CPT, ICD-10-CM, and CMS guidelines
.
Perform
DRG validation
and ensure correct sequencing of diagnoses and procedures.
Collaborate with the billing and audit teams to minimize claim denials and rejections.
Verify the accuracy and completeness of clinical documentation before billing.
Stay current with
coding updates, payer regulations, and compliance requirements
.
Identify and resolve coding discrepancies by coordinating with physicians and clinical teams.
Participate in periodic audits and contribute to improving coding accuracy and revenue capture.

Required Qualifications

Certification:
CIC (Certified Inpatient Coder) – Mandatory
Experience:
4 to 9 years of experience in
Hospital Billing / Inpatient Coding
(US Healthcare).
Strong understanding of
DRG assignment, UB-04 billing process
, and inpatient revenue cycle management.
Proficient in
medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
.
Knowledge of payer-specific rules, LCD/NCD guidelines, and compliance standards.
Hands-on experience with EHR and coding platforms (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, etc.).
Excellent communication and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional certifications such as
CPC, CCS, or COC
are an advantage.
Experience in
coding audits, denial management
, and compliance review.
Strong attention to detail with proven productivity and quality performance.
